Excuse me?

I had possibly the worst customer service experience of my life tonight.
If you're in Seattle Do NOT join Vision Quest Gym.

It all started with a Groupon.
They had a fantastic deal for a 6 week gym membership at Vision Quest which has several locations around Seattle and the East side where I live. I was pumped because they have a location 3 miles from my house and the Groupon stated it included classes, 3 personal training sessions and free tanning. Well, tonight was my first night and I met up with my friend Angela (who also got the Groupon) and we went to a Strength Training class. I got there 30 mins early because I knew I would have to sign up and I wanted a tour because I like to ask a lot of questions. The guy that started helping me was nice enough and I told him I wanted to make sure I made it to the class at 6 so he knew to hurry it up. The whole time he was trying to get me to be a member and I'm thinking, "Dude, I haven't even used your gym once and I have 6 weeks free why would I join at this exact moment?" Eventually, he got the point after I told him I just wanted to do the Groupon right now and I'll decide in six weeks. He seemed fine with it and then he measured my body fat (such a fun experience) and asked if I minded if he got my weight for our starting point. I obviously didn't hear him correctly because I agreed to it. I really thought he said grab a weight like he was about to show me a move. Then I'm all like shit now I have to get on the scale and I came close to not doing it because I usually only weigh naked but I said screw it and got ready to want to kill myself. To my surprise it was only 2lbs off from my scale at home so I'm thinking this is good because if I was naked it would totally take off 5lbs.....

Back to the point.

He didn't finish signing me up because it was time for my class so he told me to just come see him after and he would get me my member card. I was fine with this and went to the class which was AMAZING! Such a good workout full of lunges, squats, crunches, and 100 different arm workouts with 3 different size weights. After class I decided I wanted to hit the sauna. I LOVE saunas and haven't had access to once since college... that was another HUGE plus to this gym for me. After sweating my ass off for 25 minuets and making a new friend I headed for the door. I thought I was just going to pick up my card and leave but OH how I was wrong. The guy that was helping me before was with some other people trying to get them to be members so I got handed off to the OWNER of all the Vision Quests. He was in this location for the day and proceeded then to ask me all the same questions the first guy asked me. At this point I was ready to kill someone. I wanted to go home, I had a baked potato in the oven for 2 hours at this point and I just wanted the damn card
STOP TRYING TO SELL ME A MEMBERSHIP! Photobucket

Towards the end of this conversation he got my card ready and then said for my membership I had access to the gym and the three personal training sessions but classes were extra.

I then informed him that HIS Groupon said classes were included. He said that wasn't the case and then went into this long rant about how it's not fair to his members if a bunch of 6 weeks Groupon members filled up all the classes. I should have said, "Then you shouldn't have put it on the f*cking Groupon or made the Groupon cost more" but I was in such shock I simply said that the classes were one of the main reasons I GOT THE GROUPON.

Then he told me that it was just at this location and I could go to the other ones with more classes.
Then he said that I could have 1 week of classes free.
Then he said he would Refund me my money for the misunderstanding.

After I told him I didn't want my money back and that I wanted to use the actual gym he went into ANOTHER explanation about how I only paid $10.00 and some members pay $60.00 that he wants to make sure classes are available to them.

Yea, I get it BUT that's not what you advertised and if you HONESTLY think I would EVER join your gym after this you must have smoked a lot of crack before you went to work this morning. The entire TONE of this conversation was very disturbing. I can't really convey my anger and what kills me is that it doesn't even matter because there is no one above him. He is the OWNER. I can't believe that any business person would sell something and then renege on it.
What's also funny about this whole situation is that my friend Angela and Jenn got the same Groupon I did and they were never told classes weren't included and they go all the time.

I'm so angry about this that I pulled up the Groupon just to check that I was right:
First off.. WTF is that last sentence about?!
I get that it says Most but those classes that cost more are laid out on their website.
It's not the every day normal classes!

At the end of this conversation he told me I could go into classes that weren't full because he really didn't mind as long as the paying members weren't affected. WHAT? They don't even check ID's anyways and how could they even prove it or not? The studio is upstairs with all the cardio equipment so for all they know I'm going to do cardio when really I will be going to Spinning on Monday nights and Strength Training on Wednesday nights.

You disappointed me.

But you're gym is nice and I will enjoy using it for the next 6 weeks at only $10.00!
Then I'm going to join LA Fitness which is opening in the Fall, only 1/2 mile from my house, and will have an Olympic sized pool.
