Paintings & such

Not sure if I've blogged about it before but one of the things you should know about me is that I paint.

Black light paint!

I love art (in all forms) but painting is the one I think I'm best at and enjoy the most. I can't paint you a life like portrait, I can't do landscapes, or animals - my area would be abstract. I love movement, texture, vibrant colors and the bigger the better. Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh are my favorites and they are the reason I fell in love with Impressionism. Not saying that my work is anywhere NEAR theirs; they are simply my favorites and who I draw inspiration from.

I paint to relax, to have fun, and to get my creativity out!

Another perk of this hobby is getting to sell some of this work and the thought of something that I created in someone else's home; when they look at it they love and cherish it and that makes me so incredibly happy and grateful. I started doing art shows about 2 years ago and they are really fun but incredibly exhausting. I slacked off with my involvement in art shows when I got engaged so that I could focus on planning my wedding but now that, that is over I'm back!

Our itty bitty town has a new street fair going on every Thursday for the month of July so I got in touch with the people in charge and decided that I wanted to set up my booth. Today was the first day and right after work I drove downtown to set up. This is a new event and not a lot of people came out tonight I'm hoping next Thursday will be much better.

I managed to get the hubs to snap a pic of my tent - he's a keeper.

Excuse the crappy camera phone - oh and me trying to be cute.

I'm not going to sugar coat how lackluster the attendance was tonight I painted 1 face out of about 8 children. Granted the okay part is that I didn't have to pay to set up for this fair and I'm assuming it is going to grow (fingers crossed). I met a couple of new people and made some contacts so all in all it was a good evening in downtown Laurel.

I urge people to support your local artists (in every form) and get out of your house. The worlds a big place and nothing happens until you make it.

I'm sure I'll have better post next Thursday - they have music at this street fair and the hubs is scheduled to play.
Hopefully that means lots more faces and lots of sales!

Happy Thursday Everyone - PS. Tomorrow is Friday!!!

POPCHIPS!

I'm going to continue and follow through with this TTT bizzz-nasss.

1. Yesterday at the in laws 4th of July party the hubs 183 year old granny caught me off guard by saying: "I saw some of your wedding pictures on your wall, they are so pretty" Say wahhh Granny? How in the hell do you know about facebook and what a "wall" is -  or let alone a computer???
Hahahaha that was by far the BEST part of my day.

2. I hardly ever wear pants. I work in an office and I wear skirts/dresses 4 days out of 5. On the fifth day I wear jeans only because its casual Friday and that means = jeans. If I'm not at work its dresses or shorts. I really just love my legs and I can't wear pants because it's just too damn hot in Mississippi.
I got the best complement of my life in this dress.

3. I have to RAVE about one of my favorite brands. I am Obsessed with POPchips! They are the best tasting chips I've ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth and the kicker is.. THEY ARE HEALTHY!
The bag is small so you can eat the WHOLE THING and you're only consuming 12 grams of Fat and 360 Calories... FOR THE WHOLE BAG! Hellllllo love. Seriously, these puppies are so good you CAN eat the whole bag at one time but I'm pretty good at getting 2 - 3 snack times on. My personal FAVORITE is the Sea Salt & Vinegar. The BBQ comes in a close second but nothing compares to the sharp, tangy, pungent, salty deliciousness of the Sea Salt & Vinegar.

I love them so much that I emailed the company and told them so. They immediately emailed me back and let me know that they Love that I Love Them! It wasn't one of those generic ones either - it was a personal email saying they were going to send me some goodies in the mail as a thanks for loving them.

 HELLO, wonderfulness.

Handwritten - I love companies like this!

GLOOORRY GLOOORY, HALLELUJJJAAAHHH!!!

Does everyone see that!? Free bag.
A free bag of heaven for this girl and you SO have a customer for LIFE POPchips.
Well played.

I urge everyone to try these chips. You will love me forever.
Let me know which one is YOUR favorite oh and if you work for POPchips totally tell them about my blog and send me more free products... I'd LOVE to review them for you!

Sunny Saturdays

Yesterday was pretty fantastic.

I sucked at the gym again but I still got a good 3.5 miles in. Most of them were on the Elliptical because my legs felt like tight stumps when I did my almost mile on the treadmill. Epic Fail. It's my own fault because I've been doing some new leg workouts - pop squats and lunges (thanks for the pictures Krista!)and I can barely walk let alone run. I love these new exercises though and I can really tell they are working so I am going to suck it up and continue to try and run. Ugh.. it gets SO frustrating not being at the level I was a month ago. I've been pretty discouraged but I'm trying to work through those feelings of "ugh, I just don't even want to try anymore." I keep telling myself that it sucks right now but anything is better than nothing and I WILL get back to where I was I've just got to keep going. Those are my daily pep talks lately which help but it's hard. I've been noticing a lot of the blogs I read people are having trouble lately- maybe something is in the air? It's nice to know that this is normal and I'm not alone, we all hit walls we just have to remember to BUST through them.

After the gym I was bound and determined to get some sun. Well, I got some alright...a little TOO much but I love it and I might go again today. Although, I will definitely wear a hat and SPF 100 on my face. Ekkk.

My mother in law has a pool and I usually try and go over there every weekend to get some sun. Yesterday was BEAUTIFUL - perfect sun tanning weather (no clouds) and my lovely sister in law Morgan joined me.

Back Deck the MIL is over in the corner

After 5 hours in the sun using Oil Sheen. Oops.

If you like your people like your chicken from Popeye's - Extra Crispy then you would LOVE us.

Blame it on this:

Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Sheen Spray 11.5oz

BUT this stuff is AMAZING. Makes you extremely dark - the only place I'm still super crispy is my face... it is terrible and I should have applied sunblock there. I'm a Dumbass. (I didn't put this olive oil on my face though- I'm not that stupid)

Overall It was a great Saturday! I love my SIL she acts just like I did when I was her age and hanging out with her is always fun. I have to work Tomorrow so this (and possibly today) was my Fourth of July pool time.

What are your plans for the 4th?
