Nebraska I loveeeeee you!

Hi, Iowa & Nebraska.

You suck for not having a Welcome sign where we could take a picture in front of it. I managed to get the above picture on our way back into Iowa after we stayed the night in S. Sioux City, NB. We came in after dark to NB so I missed that sign completely and I am totally bummed about it. (We later found out that the Hwy 29N between Kansas City, Missouri and Sioux City, Iowa had been closed for a long time due to very bad flooding from the Missouri River and had just recently been opened last week! Talk about good timing/luck for us) Driving from St. Louis to Sioux City was pretty fun though; Haley & I took lots of pictures in the car pretending that we were about to run off the road, enjoy:
Yes, that is a sombrero in the back seat

OMG

This may hurt...

During that drive we drove through NEW FLORENCE… I guess we grew up in “Old” Florence, MS but none the less we (Haley) tried to get a picture of the water tower and even though that R looks like a P we swear on our lives it said Florence.

We also stopped at NostalgiaVille USA which I thought was going to be an awesome road side attraction but ended up being a huge shop full of a bunch of shit that my Gran would have wanted.  All was not wasted though because Haley did find her some sweet new glasses:

Winning.

When we finally rolled into Sioux City we were all tired and HUNGRY. I swear we have barely eaten on this trip. We all are trying not to eat a bunch of junk and in turn we just keep not eating (which is terrible and giving us all headaches and bad tempers) so when we finally got to the KNIGHT’S INN (Yes, we are in the hotel business now) CK about had a heart attack when he saw what was right next door. TACO JOHNS! I have heard story after story about how Amazing Taco Johns was when it was in Laurel and how the whole city cried when it was shut down. No more Taco Tuesdays (2 tacos for .99 cents) and no more potato oles what has the world come to?! So, when CK saw that I knew what we were having for dinner and it was Taco Tuesday after all! Right after we got all of our stuff into the hotel Haley and CK happily skipped down the street and picked up 2 bags full of tacos, potato oles, and cinnamon churros. I didn’t snap any pictures due to us being so hungry that it was all immediately consumed but here’s some snap shots stolen from their website:

Potato Oles
Churros

CK immediately bragged about our dinner on his Facebook and in a matter of minuets basically everyone in Laurel blew his status up with comments of jealousy. He just smiled and gobbled up all the taco goodness that he could.

The next morning I did something I have NEVER done before… I got CK and Haley up and we all went to the hotel gym! I was so excited that I basically skipped down the hall to the gym because I just have never wanted to work out while traveling before but after reading all the healthy people and running blogs I got inspired.
However, I was completely disappointed when we got to the gym room. There was no treadmill or any cardio equipment! How can you call yourself a gym without any cardio equipment!? Bastards. I wasn’t going to turn around and walk to the donut bar though; oh no, I was going to get a workout in damnit. We ended up taking turns on each one of the weight machines and my arms and legs got a nice workout that left me hobbling to the breakfast bar. (No, I didn’t hit up the donut bar, I got wheat toast and milk bitches!)
Crappy Crap Crap Gym.

After that we hit the road for the next stop 550 miles away in Rapid City, SD I’ll fill you in on those adventures next time!

What is your favorite Restaurant that has been closed in your town?

Meet me in St. Louis

Our road trip started out bright and early Monday (Oct 10th) morning with breakfast prepared by my wonderful Gran.

Can you say YUMMY.

After breakfast we finished loading the cars and said goodbye to Gran and Haley said her goodbyes to her lover Josh. (It was a tragic and gross display of affection)

He can't wait to go home and play XBOX

Then we started taking pictures of ourselves because we are vain and I want 1,000 pictures of this damn adventure for my scrapbooks that I’m going to be putting together once we get settled in Seattle.

Excuse the ugly pants..they are totally comfy though

She's trying to steal my Momma!

The best Gran a girl could hope for. Guess her age..you will be way off.

She looks sweet...but she's evil.

Then all hell broke loose in my car.
We were riding 3 dirty with my mom, Olive, and me and Olive started puking everywhere. I think she was trying to say she didn’t want to move but mom said she probably just ate some bad. (It was a strawberry and oatmeal and no I didn’t take a picture to prove it- you’re welcome) We thought she was done puking so we headed out but we were wrong and she puked again within thirty minuets all over my mom who was driving.

"Noooo!! I look like I peed myself!"

It was lovely and I tried to help my mom by pouring water on the seat between her legs were the puke was but she got more pissed that I made her look like she “peed in her pants!!” Oh, Heavens woman I was just trying to help! After that Olive and I calmed down and we had a easy ride to St. Louis where CK had a show at 10 that night and we got to spend some time with my Uncle and my (basically Aunt) Lisa and her boyfriend Rob. They are some of my favorite people and we were excited that they were our first stop on our adventure.

BUT first we had to get our picture in front of the Missouri sign!
Yes, we are on the side of the interstate.

AND we just had to eat at Lambert’s in Sikeston, MO.

Total pigs-we'd like everything covered in gravy thank you.

THEN we arrived in St. Louis and got CK to his show on time and took lots of pictures throughout the night:
Rob, Lisa, & Momma
Lisa & Momma
Love her
CK with Matt Woods who also played that night

Then we had to pack Haley into the car...

We had a great first leg of the trip and woke up bright and early to run eat at Denny’s with Eddie and Lisa before we hit the road to Sioux City, NB.
Caught them off guard

Looking exceptionally rough.

I did good by ordering the turkey bacon, egg whites, wheat toast, and fruit but I won’t tell you what the others got. My goal of not gaining 20lbs throughout this trip is going pretty good I will keep you posted! I didn’t get to run in St. Louis but Nebraska is a different story that I will fill you in on next!

Do you work out when you are on vacation/the road?

Meet the K TEAM.

Okay, Now it’s time to get down to business.

Terri & Chad’s ROAD TRIP across America from their old home Laurel, MS to their new home in Seattle, WA involves some interesting characters.
Let me introduce you to the road trip team AKA the A K Team (We caught that movie on HBO this morning before we left our hotel and I was inspired!):

Haley “FACE” Peck:

Meet Haley she’s my best friend (holding awesome going away presents!) and is as pretty as can be that’s why she’s dubbed FACE. I didn’t think she was going to go on this adventure with me at first but after I yelled at her and told her we would never have a chance like this again she finally agreed and got her ass in the car. At first, she tried to bring a suitcase bigger than my car so that she could bring all of her Twilight inspired clothes to WA but she was quickly told that she could barley fit in the car let alone that gigantic suitcase. So, FACE was a little sad but pulled through like a trooper and packed a smaller more efficient suitcase. Haley has also been AMAZING with the gigantic ATLAS I got for our trip; she pointed out that Alaska runs across the whole top of the USA (now I thought that was Canada but we are going to write the editors for it to be corrected as soon as we get to Seattle) and she thought we were going to be going threw Phoenix, AZ at some point on our trip. We have been having geography quizzes ever since and she now knows the capitals of several states! I’m so proud I could burst!

What does all this mean!?

C.K. MURDOCK:

Meet Chad AKA the husband, lone man, crazy in love with me fool, and soon to be Rockstar. He’s a little nutty (and terrible at using cruise control and keeping up with HANNIBLES driving) but pulls through and gets things done (like unloading the women’s luggage at each destination) which makes him the perfect MURDOCK. He has been having way too much fun but that’s okay because I drive him crazy on a daily basis so I let him get wild on occasion. He also just got his lip pierced and won’t stop trying to kiss me in every state. He says, “I need some alone time with my wife” I told him I didn’t like him and I wanted to hang out with FACE and HANNIBLE. That went over well.

Just kidding...I really do like him

Sharon “HANNIBAL” Smith:

Meet Sharon AKA Momma! She is also my best friend, rock, love of my life, and walking xanax bar. If I need to be calmed down she’s really the only one that can make me feel better and tell me to shut up and I can’t yell back at her. (Well, I could but just would never because she is the best and doesn’t deserve being yelled at in any situation) She was game for this road trip from the very start and people back home are taking bets on whether or not she is going to return. We are super close and I can’t imagine doing this road trip with out her; she’s also the brains of this operation and head route planner which is why HANNIBAL fits her like a glove. She is always in the lead car driving or telling just where to go and she is the logical force with everything else.

She also found her a new man but he didn’t have any gold in is plate so she dumped him shortly after this picture was taken. Moms a gold-digger now - True story.

Where's the Gold!?

B.A. Knight

Meet Terri, well never mind you all should know about me and the reason why I am the mean, crazy, and (hopefully) loveable B.A. I’ve spent this trip having several freak outs but for the most part “I” think I have been pretty well behaved and no, I don’t have a Mohawk yet.

EXTRA: K TEAM FurMonster:

Meet Olive she could be FACE if she was human because she is just too damn pretty. She got sick before we left MS and blew chunks all over my car but since then has been a complete angel and the best road dog anyone could ask for. She got a little snappy with my Uncle in St. Louis but I think she’s just stressed over all of the changes going on around her. I keep telling her we will be home soon but she just doesn’t get it.

Who would you be if you were in the A TEAM and why?

Have you ever traveled across the country with your dog/pet?
