Day 9: A picture of the item you last purchased.
This is Funny.
I am writing this on Superbowl Sunday and the only thing we have bought all day is food for the game. My friend Terra is coming over to watch and because she loves them (I do too) I had to go to QFC after forgetting them at Fred Meyer and buy these babies to surprise her...
I love feeding people.
Speaking of Superbowl treats here is my Famous Cheese dip that I found off of Pinterest and teased you guys about on Sunday. You see in the PACNW Mexican places do not serve this... Chad almost had a panic attack after we moved here and found this out so immediately like the good wife that I am I found the perfect recipe. Women- GO NOW, run to the store and buy this to make for your man... he will worship you like the high priestess that you are.
What you need for a "better than the Mexican restaurant" cheese dip.
1/2 a pound of WHITE AMERICAN cheese
(I have only ever found this in the Deli and I get it thinly sliced)
1/2 a cup (or to your liking of hotness) jalapenos
1/4 a cup of Milk
(less or more depending on how THICK you want the dip to be)
Now, here is the hardest part (other than finding that cheese) cooking it. You tear up the cheese into bite sized chunks and place in your serving bowl that is microwave safe. Then you dump the Jalapenos & Milk on top of the cheese. (I like to add the milk gradually but about half of the 1/4 cup to start off with) Then you put it in the microwave and heat it up 1:00 minuet at a time stirring until you get the perfect consistency. Super hard. The bowl pictured above took 4 mins just remember to stir it really good after each 1:00 nuke. This is so simple but it turns out so amazing. Whatever you have left over can go in the fridge and you just heat back up whenever you want it next... but I rarely ever have any leftovers.
I went a little less crazy in the cooking department than normal this year and opted to buy dessert instead of cooking all day. Chad had no complaints when I told him he could go to the bakery in Freddys and pick from the gourmet case of heaven.
Why of course we have to get a gigantic German Chocolate Cupcake.
The main course was of course some AMAZING Bill the Butcher burgers with Boar's Head Smoked Gouda, twice baked potato skins that I found on Yahoo last week, and green beans.
They tasted way better than this picture looks!
I got to try another new cheese with this recipe Gruyère. I'll never forget in college when my French Professor said, "There is a whole world outside of Cheddar people!" I've been trying new cheese's ever since. Merci beaucoup mademoiselle. PS. the Gruyere is very yummy... Similar to a Cheddar-Gouda mix and salty. You can find the recipe here
That about did it for the big day. I was done cooking by the 2nd quarter and It was blogging time during the game and commercial watching for me.
What was your favorite Superbowl Dish?!?
Link it up on here-I would love to see.
